WWE has suspended Matt Riddle due to failing a drug test

Last week there was a big angle where wrestler Solo Sikoa attacked Matt Riddle where it resulted in an injury angle where Riddle got stretchered out. When an angle like that is done it usually means that he is being written off of TV. So while one wrestler is out for a few weeks another attacks making them look strong. I belive it was produced well and made Sikoa look strong. I immediately thought that WWE did this angle due to Riddle suffering from some sort of injury and they wanted to hold him out, so he would be ready to go for the road to WrestleMania. Well, turns out that is not the case.

While watching Monday Night Raw, I decided to go on twitter to see the recent news and then I saw this tweet.

When I saw that tweet I was not surprised as during his UFC/MMA it was clear that he was on PED’s at that time. Heck he even got suspended multiple times for it. I still think that his usage was so bad that it contributed towards his release from UFC in general. So when waiting to hear what he was banned for I was thinking it was going to be for a performance enhancing drug. All I knew was that he was not postive for Marijuana as it has been common knowledge that WWE no longer tests it. Well I was wrong again.

• Matt Riddle’s suspension is his 2nd violation of the Wellness Policy
• Matt Riddle’s 1st suspended happened around the buildup of SummerSlam 
• Matt Riddle did not test postive for Marijuana as WWE no longer tests it anymore 
• Matt Riddle was offered the choice to either go to rehab or be fired 
• Riddle has already entered treatment, or will be going in soon
• The program is allegedly for 30 days

Now in that article it was not reported what he tested postive for. However, there is a rumor going around that it was for Cocaine and MDMA (Ecstasy).

Keep in mind that it is a rumor and It is not confirmed what he tested postive for as this news just broke. I will say that, Riddle did previously test postive for MDMA during his UFC days. As for Cocaine, there has been rumors of it being used still in WWE Locker rooms. However this rumor was started by The Velveteen Dream, when he had his beef earlier in the year with EC3. I am not 100% sure I can trust him knowing the amount of controversy that follows.

What I do know is that WWE still has a 3 strikes and you’re out system when it comes to drug violations. Riddle is now on his second strike and one more violation would lead to Riddle being out of a job with WWE. Which would suck as Riddle is super talented in the ring. 

I am glad that Riddle is going to rehab and getting help as it is clear that he has an issue with drugs. Not only nowadays, but during his time in MMA/UFC. I wish him luck in recovery and that he gets drug free.
