The NBA Trade Deadline is on February 10th, 2022 and I expected many transactions to occur especially trade. Well another transaction occurred with a trade involving Bol Bol between the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic.

Boston Celtics Aquire: 2023 Second Round Pick (Orlando Magic)
Orlando Magic Aquire: PG/SG PJ Dozier, C Bol Bol, Cash, an unknown future Second Round Pick

Boston Celtics Side:
Well that took long as PJ Dozier and Bol Bol not even a moth ago were being traded from Denver to Boston. Now they have to repack their bags as they are now going to Orlando. The Celtics needed to get under the luxury tax to avoid a big penalty that would hurt the team salary wise. So the Celtics decided to trade players that were not going to help them in the present and swap recourses in draft capital for any team willing to take it along with some Cash.

Orlando Magic Side:
The Magic pretty much are tanking the season and will be rebuilding for the next few seasons. So why not acquire players for the future and get some extra Cash to use salary wise. Problem is both both PJ Dozier and Bol Bol might not return to the court for this season. Dozier suffered a Torn ACL and Bol Bol has a foot injury that he will be getting surgery on. So they wont be seen as a Magic until next season.

Grades for the Bol Bol Trade
Boston Celtics: B+
Orlando Magic: B-

This is another win win trade here and it was difficult for me to decide who won this trade. But I will give the advantage to Celtics here. But it is a close grade as they both got they wanted as the Celtics are now good salary wise and the Magic get extra cash and players that they can build with and see if they a part of the future. Problem is both players are injury prone so it is likely that they are not going to be seen till next season. But overall solid move for both teams.

UPDATE: The Orlando Magic have waived PJ Dozier so I originally graded the Magic as a B in this trade but will now lower it to a B-.
