The NBA Trade Deadline was on February 10th, 2022 and I expected many transactions to occur especially trade. Well another transaction occurred during the deadline between the Wahington Wizards and Phoenix Suns involving Aaron Holiday.
Washington Wizards Acquire: Cash
Phoenix Suns Acquire: Acquire: PG Aaron Holiday
Washington Wizards Side
The Wizards must of really wanted that extra roster spot and some more cash as I feel that they could have gotten a draft pick for Aaron Holiday. But not a completely awful move for them to make for a guy that was not getting a lot of minutes. At least they got something for an expiring contract.
Phoenix Suns Side
This is a very intriguing move for the Phoenix Suns to make here. The Suns need to bolster their depth and get a few rotational pieces for their playoff push. Holiday can be that guy as while he is not the best player he is a solid shooter. The Suns did not have to give up a lot in order to acquire him. Plus the best part is that the Suns could easily get out of this deal if it doesn’t work as Holiday’s contract expires at the end of the season. So the suns can choose to not resign him and escape with minimal damage.
Grades for Aaron Holiday Trade
Washington Wizards: C+
Phoenix Suns: B
This is a solid move by both teams but The Suns win this deal as they did not have to give away much for a player that will help their rotation, fill out their roster, and can easily escape this with no damage. For the Wizards they get a free roster spot and extra cash to use so not an awful move for the Wizards but just a meh.
