The trades keep coming and there have been a lot of them. This trade is an agreement between the Buffalo Sabers and the Florida Panthers on a trade involving Robert Hagg. The details of the trade are down below.
Florida Panthers Acquire: D Robert Hagg
Buffalo Sabers Acquire: A 2022 6th Round Pick
Florida Panthers Side
Not too hard to analyze the Panthers side, so I am not going to go long here. As shown with the many moves the Panthers made during the trade deadline the Florida Panthers are going all in this season. The goal is to win the Stanley Cup this season so why not acquire more depth in Robert Hagg. Especially to help bolster the team and get some grit for the playoffs. It is also fair compensation as the Panthers did not have to give up much in the deal.
Buffalo Sabers Side
Robert Hagg was originally acquired in the Rasmus Ristolainen deal along with two draft picks. The Ristolainen trade has paid off further for the Sabers as the team decided to trade Robert Hagg again for more future value. I do wish the Sabers got a little bit more for Robert Hagg but I don’t hate the compensation the Sabers got in this deal. The Sabers get an extra late round draft pick, clear cap space, and free up a roster spot to bring in a younger defenseman.
The Stats In Question

Grades for Robert Hagg Trade
Florida Panthers: B+
Buffalo Sabers: B
It is a win-win trade for both teams and I will give the win here to the Panthers but it is a slight win. The Panthers did not have to give up much draft capital to bolster their team. The Sabers get an extra draft pick for a player they were probably not going to resign. However as a fan of the Buffalo Sabers I am really excited for the future of this team. The Sabers got a lot of exciting youth and draft picks that will be big for the team. It will be very interesting to see what the Sabers do next. Great move by Sabers GM Kevyn Adams and Panthers GM Scott Fitterer
