Super Bowl LVI Bets

Super Bowl Sunday is upon us, the most exciting betting day of the year. The Rams and the Bengals will play Sunday night in Super Bowl LVI to cap off one of the most entertaining playoffs in recent memory. For this article I wanted to share some of the bets I’ll be making for the big game and why.

Spread pick: Rams -4

Rams Defensively

I like the Rams to cover here. I think their defensive line can take advantage of a weak Bengals offensive line, especially with their pass rush. Against the Titans, Joe Burrow was sacked nine times and still somehow pulled out a victory. I’m not expecting nine sacks again, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the sack over hit with Aaron Donald, Von Miller and Leonard Flyod pressuring Burrow all night long.

Rams Offensively

The Rams’ offensive line has been solid all season giving Matt Stafford plenty of time to get the ball to his playmakers, specifically Cooper Kupp and Odell Beckham. The Bengals have been terrible against slot receivers all season long, which is going to be a problem since Kupp is the league’s best.

Over/Under 48.5 pick: Under 48.5

In Cincinnati’s playoff run, the under is 3-1. With them going up against a great defense in the Rams, I don’t see them putting up a ton of points. Along with that, both offenses aren’t great in the red zone, sitting around the middle of the pack statistically, so I’m expecting a lot of field goals, especially early.

1st Half Under 24.5

I also like the 1st half under.  It always seems like the teams take a little while to really get moving, probably because of nerves and coaches wanting to be a little more conservative. I’m banking on both teams settling for field goals early, which leads me to my next bet.

Evan McPherson over 1.5 Field Goals

Through the first three games of the playoffs, Mcpherson has attempted four field goals in each game. Going against a tough defense, the Bengals will take points when they can. I wish the value were a little better than -152, but I still like it.

Will there be a 2 point conversion attempt? Yes

In 2021 there have been more two-point conversion attempts than ever before. With the amount of missed extra points in today’s NFL and analytics starting to come into play, I expect at least one more to happen on Sunday night.

Cooper Kupp over 8 receptions

After leading the NFL in touchdowns, yards and receptions during the regular season, Kupp is a nightmare for defenses to cover. The Bengals have been terrible at covering slot receivers all year and actually have allowed the most receptions to slot receivers.

Tee Higgins MVP +6000

With the postseason that Higgins has had and the fact that Jalen Ramsey will be following Chase around all night, a Tee Higgins MVP longshot does not seem that unrealistic. Since I think the Rams will win, I’m probably not taking this, but if you are on the Bengals Sunday night, this is a great value bet.

There are my bets, I’m expecting a big game out of the Rams defense and per usual, Cooper Kupp. Rams 27- Bengals 17. Enjoy the game!
