With the Preseason here, it presents an opportunity for teams to see who belongs and who does not. Nobody is safe especially notable names where teams used a high draft pick on. J.J. Arcega-Whiteside is one of them and it seemed like the Philadelphia Eagles were going to cut him. Luckily the Eagles were able to trade him to the Seattle Seahawks and the full details of the deal are down below.
Philadelphia Eagles Acquire: CB/S Ugo Amadi
Seattle Seahawks Acquire: WR/TE J.J. Arcega-Whiteside
Philadelphia Eagles Side
J.J. Arcega-Whiteside will forever go down as one of the worst draft choices in the Howie Roseman era. He was absolutely horrendous throughout his tenure and at points made me ask, how this guy was a second round pick. Arcega-Whiteside decided to try a position change in order to make the roster and since he is not traded, I guess that experiment has not worked out at all.
I actually like that they acquired Ugo Amadi as he could help on special teams. In film I have seen with him on the field and he is an excellent special teams ACE. He is even solid on defense to and he should be a solid part of this team.
Seattle Seahawks Side
Well I mean at least this gives Geno Smith and Drew Lock another target for them to throw to. This is a change of scenery that was needed for Arcega-Whitside as it was not working out in Philadelphia. Quick question though, will Arcega-Whiteside be playing at wide reciever or at tight end? I guess we will see during the next preseason game.
It was surprised that the Seahawks decided to throw S/CB Ugo Amadi in the deal as in the past two seasons he had 54 tackles. According to reports the Seahawks were plannng to cut Amadi, but that seems silly to me. Especially, as he is valuable on special teams and played pretty well the past few seasons.
Grades for J.J. Arcega-Whiteside
Philadelphia Eagles: A
Seattle Seahawks: C-
Easy win for the Philadelphia Eagles as they clearly were going to cut Arcega-Whiteside at the end of the preseason. They got something for him now, instead of loosing him for nothing. Seattle gets another receiver for either Geno Smith or Drew Lock to throw to and that is a plus. Overall great move by Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman and intruging move be Seattle Seahawks GM John Schneider.
