Jay Briscoe, one half of the Briscoe Brothers tag team and current Ring of Honor Tag Champions passed away on January 17th at the age of 38.
It was a normal day yesterday and I decided to go to bed early as I was going to have a long day tomorrow. When I woke up I saw a ton of missed calls and text messages where I was informed that Jay Briscoe had passed away at the age of 39 due to a car accident. When I saw the news from many sites to confirm it, and when I saw Tony Khan’s tweet below I was just heartbroken.
Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show until today.
Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day. We'll do whatever we can to support his family.
Rest In Peace Jamin— Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) January 18, 2023
I could not believe the news and I was upset hearing about this. I am a big fan of the Briscoe Brothers. I have been a fan of them since I was 9 years old. There are so many memories that I had of watching his matches and in my opinion the Briscoe Brothers are one of the greatest tag teams I have ever seen. They won so many titles all over the world and its crazy how they wrestled in so many promotions like NJPW, IMPACT Wrestling, GCW, Pro Wrestling NOAH, NWA, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, CZW, and of course Ring Of Honor (ROH).
There are so many favorite feuds that I had involving the Briscoe Brothers. One of my favorites is the one they recently had with FTR. In my opinion that feud with FTR is the best tag team feud and match of 2022. That Dog Collar match they recently had was absolutely fantastic and all there other matches were just so perfect.
I could go on and on about my favorite feuds with the Briscoe Brothers, but there promo’s were fantastic. Especially from Jay Briscoe and the guy had the charisma that you need cutting a promo. Jay was fantastic cutting a promo and it made there act believable. My favorite promos always the one he cut as the ROH World Champion when he won the title and said it was “Simple Mathematics”. The promo is down below if you want to watch it.
I am just so stunned hearing the passing of Jay Briscoe and he will be missed. It is truly tragic day and we lost a legend in the wrestling business. Rest in Peace Jamin Pugh aka Jay Briscoe. My thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family.

Being in the ring with Jay Briscoe got me my first ROH contract. He and Mark being so selfless helped Jimmy and I find our footing as AOTF. Without him, I don’t know if Tyler Black could ever have been Seth Rollins.

I don’t know what my life would be like without Jay Briscoe in it, and I don’t want to know.
You believed in me, you helped me, you treated me like family. There will never be another like you. I am so grateful to have known a man like you.
I love you Jay.
